Fayetteville's New Festival Park Plan Holds Water

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A new concept for Fayetteville's Festival Park is moving forward.

The city council approved a new master plan that features a sculpture garden at Ray Avenue and Rowan Street, a terrace where the USO building once stood, a water fountain and waterfall.

The plan also calls for flying international flags at the park to celebrate the city's diversity and using spotlights to call attention to events at the park.

The design does not include a proposed 400-foot tower that stirred up controversy earlier.

The council endorsed the plan at a public hearing held Moinday eeving.
