DURHAM, N.C. — A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a pickup truck on Cheek Road near Midland Terrace Sunday night.
Durham police say the accident happened at 9:09 p.m. when Paul Hunter, 50, of Roane Street walked into the path of a westbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Barry Daniel, 50, of Little Rogers Road.
Hunter was wearing dark clothing and the area was poorly lit, according to investigators. Speed was not a factor in the accident.
Hunter was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of head injuries and a fractured leg. Daniel was not injured.
No charges have been filed, but the accident remains under investigation.
