Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh fire crews were called to a North Carolina State University College of Textiles building following a small explosion Friday afternoon.

Fire crews were called to a lab on Centennial Campus just before 1 p.m.

Researchers accidently combined nitric acid with another chemical, which released potentially harmful fumes.

The building was evacuated until the lab was ventilated.

No one was injured.
