WAKE FOREST, N.C. — A Wake Forest detective who became a witness in a prison abuse case will keep her job.
Detective Bonnie Heart was called to testify in the case against her boyfriend, David Passaro.
U.S. attorneys played audio tapes of Passaro talking to Heart from jail about money and a passport. A judge said there were discrepencies in the tapes and her testimony.
The Wake Forest police chief said he will be watching the case carefully. Passaro, a contractor with the CIA, is charged with assaulting an Afghan prisoner who later died.
