Former Durham Housing Official Files Suit After Losing Job

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A former Durham housing official says he should not have been fired, and now he is suing.

Reginald Lipscomb, the former finance director of the Durham Housing Authority, said he was fired after he cooperated with federal authorities investigating the misuse of $5 million in low-income housing money.

The lawsuit claims Lipscomb tipped off investigators with information about the former executive director. It also says Lipscomb's contract was breached and that his right to free speech was violated.
