RALEIGH, N.C. — The Raleigh Police Department has charged 26-year-old Larry Dean Carter with murder in connection with the death of Shaudria Dawn Barfield.
Carter, of Raleigh, was in custody at the Wake County Jail on another charge at the time of his arrest on the murder charge.
Police believe Carter and Barfield knew each other and had a personal relationship. But evidence in the case indicates the crime was not directly related to a domestic-violence incident.
Barfield's body was found Saturday in her car in the parking lot of the State Employees' Credit Union on Pacific Drive.
Police said the investigation continues.
