Lawmakers Vote To Eliminate License Plate Shield

RALEIGH, N.C. — State lawmakers want to eliminate the Eliminator.

The Eliminator is a cover that prevents red-light cameras from getting a clear shot of a license plate.

The House gave final approval to a bill Monday that makes it illegal to conceal a license plate.

A driver caought doing so would be fined $100.

The bill goes to Gov. Mike Easley, who is expected to sign it into law.
