Duke University, YMCA End Partnership Over Same-Sex Policy

DURHAM, N.C. — Duke University and the YMCA have ended their partnership after a dispute over membership rates for same-sex couples.

The university wanted same-sex couples to get the same rates as married couples.

YMCA leaders say gays and lesbians are welcome, but are subject to different rates.
