Raleigh Officers Disciplined For Dismantling Homeless Camp

print friendly

An internal investigation at the Raleigh Police Department is complete, following an incident on March 30.

The review involved officers who destroyed an illegal homeless camp. A complaint was filed because the officers cut-up tents and tarps.

Raleigh police admit the officers did not handle the situation in the best way. They say appropriate disciplinary action was taken.

The department is now working on a new policy on how to handle the camps, which will include officer training.

A captain at the department is also joining the city's action plan to end homelessness all together.
