Wake County Restaurants Sign Up To Go Smoke Free

print friendly

Smokers may have to put on the brakes before they enter some local restaurants. A new smoke-free program was announced Friday.

No-smoking establishments will display a decal in the shape of a stoplight and a certificate near their sanitation grades. About 150 restaurants already signed up.

Wake County

Project ASSIST

is behind the program. It also is working with the town of Cary to promote smoke-free restaurants and bars there.

The new program was announced about two weeks after a Moore County hospital decided to be the first N.C. hospital to go smoke free. On July 4, FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital and all FirstHealth properties kick the habit.
