FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — After months of controversy, the Fuquay-Varina town manager is out.
John Ellis suddenly resigned, effective Friday. He has been on paid administrative leave since late March because of unspecified legal claims against him.
Ellis stepped down during Wednesday's town council meeting without explanation.
The interim city manager is taking over for the time being.
