FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police believe a man killed in a wreck on Ramsey Street Thursday morning crossed the centerline and was headed the wrong way on Ramsey Street when he hit an ambulance head-on.
Officers say a FirstHealth of the Carolinas ambulance was traveling south on Ramsey Street when it collided with a car in a northbound lane at 2:38 a.m.
The driver of the car, Dasham Russell, 23, of Fayetteville, died at the scene.
Two paramedics were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The ambulance was transporting a patient from the Veterans Affairs Hospital on Ramsey Street to the VA Hospital in Durham. The patient was not injured.
Investigators say the ambulance did not have its lights on. No charges have been field.
