RALEIGH, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation will temporarily close Smithfield Road nightly at the new U.S. 64 Bypass in Raleigh beginning Wednesday.
The road will be closed to through traffic nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. until Friday, July 2.
There will be a signed detour directing traffic onto Bethlehem Road.
The closure is necessary to set girders for an overpass as part of the new U.S. 64 Bypass project.
The DOT reminds motorists to stay alert and drive with caution.
