Police are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found in a creek on Christmas Eve.

SILER CITY, N.C. — Police are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found in a creek on Christmas Eve.

The body of Bobby Wayne Chappell, 43, of Siler City, was found in a creek behind a North Avenue residence on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Chappell was reported missing by his family on Dec. 18. He lived with his mother and stepfather and worked for his stepfather's home remodeling company.

The body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy to determine a cause of death.
