— A convenience store clerk turned the tables on two armed robbers Saturday afternoon.

It happened at the Amoco gas station at 1711 Clinton Road in Fayetteville around 3:30.

Fayetteville police said the clerk shot one of the suspects as the robber began to pull out a silver handgun.

The wounded suspect was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. His wound was not life-threatening, police said.

The other suspect ran away, and police were looking for him.

Police did not have a good description, but said each man was wearing red bandana over his face.

Police said they had not determined whether the clerk would face any charges.

OK Kudos to the clerk for surviving this. I am a convienence store clerk also, the old saying is those who live by the sword, die by the sword. He should have just given the would be robber anything he wanted. This story could have easily turned into "store clerk killed during robbery"

I don't think the man should face any charges because more than likely he would have been the one dead due to those two thugs. He did the right thing to defend himself to bad his aim was not a little bit better. I'm sick of all these thugs getting slaps on the hands and released back into society to once again prey on people. I also agree, give this man a medal.

I am so glad the clerk fought back. If it weren't for that, he may not be here today to spend time with his family during this blessed Christmas holiday.

Ok, must disagree with all you here. The clerk should face charges. I mean let's be for real here. He let one get away. He should be charged with letting a suspect escape. His sentence should be mandatory drills on the firing range. After serving his sentence he should then be used a model across the country to show how reform really can work in the justice system.

    ;^)

I agree with all the other comments give this man an award its about time one of many thugs gets a bullet maybe more people need to do the same since the system can't.

  • Mad-as-heck Dec 24, 2006

Good for the clerk! He should not be charged with anything. However he should get a key to the city for helping to clean it up.

I agree!! Give this Clerk a MEDAL for shooting his assailant and for protecting himself against a VERY REAL MORTAL THREAT! It's just too bad that his/her aim wasn't more accurate. More law-abiding American Citizens need to use their right to bear arms against a criminal element that could care less whose lives they endanger as long as it's a means to an end. American has become a sad reflection of it's horrendously misguided leadership where CRIMINALS have more rights and protection from prosecution than their victims.

clerk face charges???? Doesn't having a gun pulled on you, mean that you should be in fear for your life????? Self-defense would apply here. Also, you see, that the story didn't say that the one in the hospital had been arrested for attempted armed robbery either. What is it, the crooks getting away....(even though they are in the hospital?).
