SILER CITY, N.C. — A 79-year-old Pittsboro man was killed in a wreck Monday morning in Chatham County, and his son was hospitalized with injuries.
According to investigators, Guthrie was traveling on Bonlee Bennett Road about 9:30 a.m. and failed to yield, turning his pickup truck into the path of a tractor-trailer.
The tractor-trailer, which was traveling on Siler City Glendon Road, was driven by Donna Shoffner of Liberty, N.C., who was not injured.
Guthrie's son, Jerry, was a passenger in the pickup. He was airlifted to UNC Hospitals, where he was listed in stable condition Monday afternoon.
