FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville detectives have charged Judy Bethea with first-degree murder after an early-morning shooting left her husband dead.
Bethea is being held without bond in the Cumberland County Detention Center.
Police said they got a call about a shooting at 4485 Ruby Road, in the Tiffany Pines Subdivision, around 5 a.m. Friday.
Upon their arrival, officers located Bethea and her husband, Exodus. Bethea told police she shot Exodus in the stomach.
When medics arrived, they found Exodus Bethea unresponsive. They initiated life-saving measures, but he died.
Further investigation revealed that the Betheas were involved in a domestic argument at the time of the shooting.
