DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham woman caring for her 4-year-old grandson is accused of tying him to a door and causing injuries so severe that doctors had to amputate his leg.
Desiree Justice is charged with felony child abuse.
The incident happened last month. Justice was caring for the child at the boy's home off Cornwallis Road. She is accused of constricting the boy's leg with a rope and binding him to a closet door knob.
Police still do not know why the child was bound.
Justice, who is in jail under $50,000 bond, could face additional charges.
