RALEIGH, N.C. — A Wake County grand jury indicted a former state Department of Transportation employee on fraud charges Tuesday.
Denise Hargrove was indicted on four counts of obtaining property under false pretense and two counts of fraud and uttering.
State insurance investigators say Hargrove claimed she was blinded in an accident last year. Investigators say she forged letters to steal $170,000 in bogus insurance claims.
Investigators believe Hargrove bought a business and two homes with the money.
