NORTHAMPTON COUNTY — Search crews are looking for a missing boater in Northampton County following a deadly accident Tuesday morning.
Three people were on board a small boat in the Roanoke River, just west of Roanoke Rapids, when the boat hit a rock and capsized, according to the Northampton County Sheriff's Office.
Willie Powell, Jr. died and his father, Willie Powell Sr., was rescued with minor injuries.
Authorities are looking for another man who was reportedly in the boat. The Sheriff's Office is not releasing his name at this time because the next-of-kin has not been notified.
