FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County deputies made a major hardware bust in Fayetteville Friday.
A tip led officials to a home on Strathmore Drive where they found an estimated $50,000 in building supplies. Investigators believe the items were stolen from construction sites across the county.
Deputies are still looking for the homeowner and suspect, 33-year-old Bryan Donaldson.
The seized property included, doors, windows, nails, shingles, felt paper plywood, lumber, power tools, generates, power washers, appliances, trailers, lawnmowers, and power lawn equipment. Deputies filled a 45-foot trailer pulled by a tractor to remove the seized property from Donaldson's residence.
Officials say a rise in construction thefts have cost builders a lot of money. They say some construction companies are considering fencing in their sites.
Anyone with information on Donaldson's whereabouts should call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500.
