Durham Wreck Sends 2 To Hospital

— Two cars were involved in a late-night accident Sunday in Durham that sent two people to the hospital and tied up traffic for four hours.

According to police, the wreck happened after 10 p.m. on U.S. 15-501 South, between the exits for Cornwallis Road and Highway 751. One of the vehicles went off the road, while another ended up on its side in the road.

Zhaochun XU, 31, of Durham, is listed in critical condition at Duke Medical Center. The driver of a 2002 Toyota Corolla, XU was pinned inside the vehicle for about 45 minutes.

A passenger, Yuan Liu, is in fair condition at Duke.

Another driver was treated and released.
