Grand Jury Indicts Mebane Man On First-Degree Murder Charges

MEBANE, N.C. — Charges are piling up against a Mebane man accused of killing his daughter.

Rufus Bishop is now charged with first-degree murder, child abuse and arson.

Bishop is accused of shooting his 10-year-old daughter, Myiesha, in the head then trying to burn the house down with her inside on May 25. Myiesha jumped out a second-story window, but she died a few days later.

He is in jail under $1 million bond.
