SPRING LAKE, N.C. — The Harnett County Sheriff's Office has arrested Melinda Faye Cerino on first-degree murder charges in connection with Monday's stabbing death of her husband.
Cerino was being held in the Harnett County Detention Center Monday night as investigators worked to determine further details of the incident.
Deputies responded to the Cerino residence in Spring Lake, about 12 miles south of Lillington, at 6:59 a.m. Monday. On arrival, they found 31-year-old Jose Francisco Cerino lying on the ground next to the front door of the residence.
Mr. Cerino was declared dead at the scene. He was transported to Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn.
