DURHAM, N.C. — Two people were killed in a two-vehicle accident on North Roxboro Road near Old Farm Road Monday afternoon.
Investigators said Eric Frazier, 36, of Kelvin Drive was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier north on North Roxboro Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the car shortly after 12:30 p.m.
The Cavalier spun across the center line into the path of a southbound 2000 Lexus sport-utility vehicle driven by Marilyn Meylor, 33, of Foxwood Drive in Timberlake.
The front of the Lexus crashed into the passenger side door of the Cavalier, trapping both occupants of the Cavalier.
Frazier and a passenger in his car -- Teresa Cozart, 39, of West College Street in Oxford -- were pronounced dead at the scene. They were extricated from the Cavalier by the Durham Fire Department. Meylor suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
No charges were filed. Both vehicles were total losses.
Traffic on North Roxboro Road was blocked in both directions for more than two hours.
