A 21-year-old man from Fayetteville has been arrested in Mississippi on 145 charges of sexual assault against a child.

Ortez Deandre Green was arrested in Jackson, Miss., on May 6. He waived extradition to North Carolina and was returned to Cumberland County on Friday.

Green will have a first appearance at 9 a.m. Monday.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, detectives began a search for Green on March 25, 2004. At that time, detectives had obtained warrants for Green's arrest, charging him with a number of child sexual-assault crimes.

Deputies said the victim of Green's crimes was 7 years old at the time he began sexually molesting her. They said he continued to have forced sexual relations with the juvenile victim over a period of 10 years, ending in October of 2003.

Green's charges are as follows:

  • 22 counts of first degree statutory sex offense,
  • 18 counts of statutory rape,
  • 47 counts of incest,
  • 6 counts of 2nd degree forcible rape,
  • 6 counts of 2nd degree forcible sex offense,
  • 23 counts of statutory rape,
  • 23 counts of statutory sex offense.
  • The investigation began after the victim disclosed to a teacher that she had been sexually assaulted for a number of years. School authorities reported the disclosure to the sheriff's office.
