CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A former member of the Tar Heel Sports Network received a big honor Thursday night.
The family of Stephen Gates was on hand at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill baseball game to receive a $10,000 donation to a scholarship fund in Gates' name.
UNC-Chapel Hill is also naming the baseball stadium's broadcast booth after Gates.
The sports reporter was killed in a hit-and-run accident in October. he was 27.
