RALEIGH, N.C. — Members of the media got their first look Thursday inside of the new 19-story Progress Energy Building, the first new high-rise in downtown Raleigh in 13 years.
The first employees are expected to move into the $96 million building on Aug. 30. About 1,200 employees will relocate there by the end of the year.
The building is more than 360,000 square feet.
Officials said a lot of work and materials are going into the new tower with 69 subcontractors working 250,000 hours.
More than 4,500 yards of concrete, 828 70-foot tall pilings for the foundation, along with 9,550 truckloads of other materials from five continents, have helped put the finishing touches on the tower.
