Men Posing as Police Officers Charged With Robbery
Durham, N.C. — Four men are in jail charged with robbery and impersonating police officers in a home invasion.
According to witnesses, the men pulled into a driveway Sunday morning on Carpenter Fletcher Road in Durham armed with guns. Durham police said the men were dressed in shirts labeled "police" and they wore badges around their necks.
Police said the men handcuffed their victims, put plastic bags over their heads and ransacked the house. The victims were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
When authorities arrived, they saw three men running into the woods behind a house. They were later apprehended and taken into custody. A fourth male was found inside a parked vehicle nearby.
Investigators charged Alexis D. Morillo, 23, of Reading, Pa., Gabriele Pabon, 39, of Corona, N.Y., Roberto Lopez, 23, of Woodcroft Parkway in Durham and Lameck L. Staton, 23, of Reading, Pa., with robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree kidnapping and impersonating a police officer.
Authorities said the men are wanted for similar crimes along the East coast. Each suspect is being held on $1 million bond.
