DURHAM, N.C. — A former Durham police chief died over the weekend.
Jackie McNeil, 55, had been ill recently with several health problems.
He worked his way through the ranks of the Durham police department to become its second black chief, but he resigned after 25 years of service amid allegations of sexual harassment and racism within the department.
There is no word on funeral arrangements.
