print friendly
A Garner high school spent an hour on lockdown Friday after reports of a suspicious person with a weapon on campus.

Police officers responded to Garner Magnet High School at about 12:50 p.m. after a student reported her suspicions to school administrators.

Police arrested Teddy Ray Melvin Jr., 17, of Raleigh, on campus and charged him with one count of misdemeanor possession of a weapon on a school campus.

Authorities said he was armed with a black BB pistol. They did not say if he was a student at the school or why he was on campus.
