Colonial Inn's owner declines offer from suitor to buy property

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — A Greensboro businessman offered $500,000 for the Colonial Inn, but the inn's owner turned down the bid.

Henry Francis bought the Hillsborough landmark two years ago, promising to restore it. So far, that has not happened.

Francis wants $1.7 million for the property.

Until Francis starts making repairs, he is being fined $100 a day by town officials. So far, he is up to $4,500.
