Suspect Sought In Durham Shooting

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police investigators are looking for a man charged in connection with a gang-related shooting Wednesday evening.

Investigators have charged Cephus Jerrell Stanback, 18, of 2229 Summitt St. with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Stanback is known to frequent the areas of the 400 block of Queen Street and the 1200 block of Enterprise Street, police said.

Officers responded to a shooting call at Oakley Square Apartments, 1835 Cheek Road, around 7:30 p.m.

They found Timothy Uzzle, 17, of 637 W. Club Blvd. lying in front of Building 4. Uzzle was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds to his back and buttocks.
