DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police investigators are questioning two people about a shooting that occurred on Weaver Street Monday night.
Officers from the police department's Gang Unit were working in the Cornwallis Road housing community when officers heard gunfire around 7 p.m. Monday.
Officers chased one person on foot through the community and apprehended him on South Roxboro Street. A second person was taken into custody on Charles Street. Officers also recovered a handgun.
While officers were investigating the "shots fired" call, 22-year-old Kenshawn Royster walked into the Duke University Hospital emergency room and said he had been shot on Weaver Street. Royster was being treated late Monday for a gunshot wound to the leg.
Charges are pending against the people being questioned.
