WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — A teenager is in jail after leading Wake County authorities on a late-night chase in his new sports car.
Deputies say the chase started around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when Tareq Abu-Jabat, 19, the driver of a BMW M3 ran a red light at the intersection of Highway 55 and High House Road just outside Cary.
A deputy tried to pull the car over, but says Abu-Jabat didstop.
After a two-mile chase, the car ran off Green Level West Road, hit and tree and flipped over on its top.
A passenger suffered minor injuries and was transported to Western Wake Medical Center.
Abu-Jaba who was not injured, was charged with careless and reckless driving and eluding arrest.
