RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have charged a man with murder following a deadly stabbing Thursday night.

Police say 38-year-old Derrick Gervin stabbed 31-year-old Gregory Langley in the parking lot at 1830 Liberty Place.

"The suspect and the victim knew each other at some level. We're not exactly sure what the relationship might have been," said Jim Sughrue of the Raleigh Police Department.

The stabbing happened around 9:15 p.m. at apartments off Rock Quarry and Proctor roads. It startled many neighbors who were getting ready to turn in for the night.

"It kind of frightens me, because it happened right here at my door and I've got kids," neighbor Angela Jacobs said.

Gervin is being held in the Wake County Jail.
