Authorities Look For Suspects Wanted In Multi-State Crime Spree

On April 27, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office began an investigation into the attempted murder and robbery of Alton Smith, 66, of Fayetteville. Smith was found laying on the side of the road by a passing motorist. Authorities said the suspects shot Smith and stole his car.

Through their investigation, authorities started searching for three people in connection with the crime: Tahishei Lakiba Harrison, 25, of Hope Mills; Mary Ann Webb, 27, of Fayetteville; and Michael Jerome Philon, also known as Thilon, 26, of Fayetteville. Authorities say all three individual have outstanding warrants against them.

On April 28, the three suspects were seen leaving the residence of William Melford Dennis, 73, of Dunn. Authorities said Dennis told his roommate that he was taking the suspects to Fayetteville and would return shortly.

Dennis, a diabetic, has not been seen since and has been reported missing.

On May 5, Smith's vehicle was located by the Dunn Police Department a short distance from his residence. The same night, authorities were contacted by the Maryland State Police, who had just located Dennis' vehicle in the parking lot of a shopping center in Frederick, Md.

According to Maryland authorities, on April 30, three individuals matching the description of Harrison, Webb, and Philon robbed and attempted to kidnap a female in the shopping center where Dennis' vehicle was recovered.

Harrison has family and friends in Killeen, Texas, Washington D.C., Silver Springs, Md., Watertown, N.Y., and Pittsburgh, Pa.

Webb has family and friends in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Philon has family and friends in Tampa, Fla., Hyattsville, Md., Elverson, Pa., Colonial Heights, Va., Washington, D.C., and Minot, N.D.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, the Dunn Police Department, the Maryland State Police are working on the case with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Marshals Service.
