DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham Freeway may be getting a new name.
Jim Goodmon, the chief executive officer of Capitol Broadcasting Co., which is heading up the
American Tobacco Project
in Durham, wants the freeway renamed Innovation Highway.
Goodmon said the new name would better capture the spirit of N.C. Highway 147, since it links more than 100 businesses and two universities.
The proposal has several more steps to pass through before it goes to the state Department of Transportation. Capitol Broadcasting Co. owns WRAL.
