FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayettteville councilman wants to scratch the city's proposed 400-foot tower.

Councilman Paul Williams said he will propose taking it out of the plan at their June meeting.

The $1 million tower would be the centerpiece of the new Festival Park in downtown.

The council is split 8-5 on the project. Some members want to look at alternatives to the tower.
