SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A murder suspect wanted in Mexico was captured in Johnston County Tuesday.
Investigators pulled over Francisco Avalos-Machado after a lengthy stakeout near Smithfield. They say he was carrying a pistol and another weapon.
Avalos-Machado is being held by the Department of Homeland Security and will be deported.
