Lumberton Officer Accused Of Planting Evidence

LUMBERTON, N.C. — Authorities have released more details about the arrest of a Lumberton police officer.

Investigators say Lt. Leon Oxendine planted evidence in a suspect's house in 2002.

SBI agents arrested Oxendine Wednesday at the police station where he worked for more than 20 years.

Oxendine is charged with tampering with witnesses and lying to a grand jury.
