Power crews worked through the night to restore power to customers in several Wilson County communities.

A traffic accident involving a dump truck caused power outages In Black Creek, Stantonsburg and Saratoga.

The single-vehicle accident happened on U.S. 117 and Blaylock Road just after 6 p.m. The dump truck ended up in a ditch, knocking down a power pole and some power lines.

Because the affected communities privately contract their own power, officials could not say how many customers were affected por what tiem power was restored.

There were reports of several traffic lights being out on highways 264, 117 and 301.

The driver of the dump truck was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
