CATY, N.C. — Three days after surviving a bus crash that killed a teammate, two local soccer players were back on the field Wednesday.
The bus carrying an all-star team from North Carolina crashed near Paris on Sunday. A player from Jacksonville, N.C., died, and several other players were injured.
Two teens involved in that crash also play for Lufkin Middle School. They made an emotional return to the field late Wednesday afternoon.
Chris Curfman and his Lufkin Middle school teammate Matt Thompson were both involved in the crash. They play for a travelling all-star team, but were back on the field today playing for their school. They lost the game but their parents say the score is not as important as getting back to normal. A Jacksonville teen was killed in the crash, three others are still in the hospital in France.
