Bankrupt Sanford Cemetery Owner Pleads Guilty To ID Fraud

SANFORD, N.C. — A man who once owned a bankrupt cemetery in Sanford is now in trouble with the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Derek Roberts pleaded guilty to two counts of identity fraud.

Roberts and his wife used to own the Lee Memory Gardens cemetery, but it went bankrupt in 2002.

Customers said they did not get the merchandise they were promised. No charges have been filed in the case.
