RALEIGH, N.C. — Shaw University
held inauguration ceremonies for Dr. Clarence G. Newsome Friday morning.
In a ceremony the Raleigh's BTI Center, Newsome became the 13th president of the school. He was named to the post in February.
Before coming to Shaw, Newsome served as dean of the Howard University School of Divinity. He received his bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees from Duke.
Newsome is native of Ahoskie.
