8-Month Detour Of U.S. 64 Business Traffic In Wake County Starts Friday

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Beginning Friday at noon, the state Department of Transportation will detour westbound U.S. 64 Business traffic at Rolesville Road in Wake County.

The closure will be in place for about eight months to accommodate bridge construction. Access to businesses will be maintained.

Motorists needing to access westbound U.S. 64 Business should use the following signed detour:

  • Take Rolesville Road, go across the bridge and turn right onto the new loop leading down to the U.S. 64 West Bypass.
  • Traffic on westbound U.S. 64 Bypass will be reduced to one lane at the new Rolesville Road loop. This shift is in place to allow the detoured traffic to safely merge from the loop.

    Motorists can expect delays.

The lane closure is part of construction for the Knightdale Bypass.

Motorists are reminded to obey the posted speed limit and to be aware of construction workers in the work zone.
