DOT To Close Southbound I-85 Ramp At Avondale Drive For 1 Month

RALEIGH, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation will temporarily close the southbound Interstate 85 off-ramp at Avondale Drive (Exit 177) in Durham beginning at 8 p.m. on Wednesday -- weather permitting.

The closing will be in place for approximately 30 days.

During the closing, motorists should use the following signed detour route:

  • Duke Street to Gregson Street, back to northbound I-85, to Roxboro Street and back to Avondale Drive.

    • The closing is part of the project to widen I-85.

    Motorists should watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
