DOT Begins Road Projects In Durham, Wake County

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Two road projects start Monday that could change your daily drive.

Monday night, the Department of Transportation will close the southbound exit ramp from I-85 at Avondale Drive in Durham.

The ramp should be closed for about 30 days. Drivers should get off at Duke Street and follow the posted detour signs.

There also will be a traffic shift on Highway 55 beginning Monday night. The road will narrow down to one lane in Wake County from Caitlin Road to Caraway Lane.

The new traffic pattern should be in place for the next six months.
