Posted Updated

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said two deputies have resigned after their involvement in a fake kidnapping stunt.

Donald Schwab and Curtis Wells were dressed in black when they grabbed one of their own children at Brentwood Elementary.

The deputies said they were trying to prove a point about the school's lack of security.

Neither deputy was on duty at the time.
