Fire Damages Carrboro Condominiums

— Six units of a condominium complex in Carrboro were damaged by fire Monday morning.

The complex, Brighton Square, is located on Westview Drive, off Highway 54. A witness said the flames looked to be about 10 feet high at one point.

It took approximately 25 firefighters an hour to bring the fire under control.

Three condos received extensive fire damage. One unit received smoke and water damage. Two other condos received smoke damage but are still habitable.

The occupants in two of the units were not insured. Strategies to assist those occupants were in the planning stages Monday afternoon.

There were not any injuries to the occupants or to firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
